Everyone can participate in the recreational races that will take place on the same day at the elite are competing in the World Cross Country Championships – no matter your level. The lower age limit is 8 years old and we recommend that kids from 8 to 12 years old will be accompanied by an adult when they run.

When you participate as a recreational runner you cannot win the IAAF/Mikkeller World Cross Country Championships 2019 but you still get the full World Championships experience and run on the same course as the elite. 

The event is arranged according to the quality standards from the international association of athletics federations IAAF and as a participant you have a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to experience a World Championship close up. 

Your bib number for the mass races can be picked up on race day Saturday March 30th from 11.00am in the Expo/Registration tent on race venue at Moesgaard Museum. 

Please bring the information with your bib number that you will receive on e-mail in the week leading up to the race. It will make the process easier and will help the volunteers to find and give you your bib number faster. 

There are no prizes and awards to the winners of the mass races but all finishers will get an unique medal that is a replica of the World Championship medal.

Behind the IAAF/Mikkeller World Cross Country Championships 2019 is: The Danish Athletics Federation together with Sport Event Denmark and Aarhus Kommune. 

IAAF stands for ”International Association of Athletics Federationsand is the international governing body for athletics. 

In principle you can run in all kinds of shoes but if you want to be sure to have a grip on the surface we recommend shoes with a rough sole. Check out ASICS’s trail and cross country shoes here

You can add more runners at the same time before the payment. Simply click “add participant” and make more registrations at the same time. Then click “Next” when you have added all runners. 

The event is for everyone and it is possible to walk the course if you participate in The Sprint 2 km

On the other distances in the mass races it is also possible to walk on the course if the hills are too tough! But remember to keep right so other runners can pass you. 

Because the surface is on grass, through mud, sand and up and down hills, it is not allowed to use a wheelchair or a babyjogger on the course.

Unfortunately there are no showers to after the race. We recommend to bring bags or the like to store your shoes and dirty clothes in since it is highly likely that you will become muddy and sweaty. It is cross country running after all. 

Yes, there will be “luggage drop” at the Race Venue where you pickup your chip and bib number. Your bag will be marked with your bib number and will be returned to you by showing your bib number to the officials. 

The price increases when 500 participants have signed up on the different distances in the mass races. 

There will be plenty of options til satisfy your needs for food and drinks on Race Venue. 

There will be free access to the Race Venue for spectators so please bring your friends, family and colleagues. There will also be free entry to Moesgaard Museum on the day of the event.

Your time will be registered every time you pass the START. So there will be timing splits at 4 kilometers, 8 kilometers and 12 kilometers. 

The event can be postponed with lightening and thunder or other natural disasters. However, we do not expect this at all. 

All rights, trademarks etc. to use of logo, design and event name belongs to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and may only be used by approval in writing from the IAAF.
